Detection of multiple parameters of the immune response in viral diseases (VirusDual)

The aim of this project is the development of a platform for molecular diagnostic characterization of the immune response in viral diseases from blood serum. The platform shall be usable for high throughput professional laboratory diagnostics as well as decentralized at the point of care.

The sensitivity of currently available antibody test systems is often too low to contribute for acute diagnostics, providing often only qualitative results. In this project, the core technologies of centrifugal microfluidics and protein interaction coupling (PICO) technology will be combined to develop a platform that enables an integrated sample preparation and assay processing solution for highly sensitive and quantitative detection of antibodies and their interaction with specific proteins from patient blood samples.
